Preferred Sweetener?
« on: March 24, 2019, 07:53:09 PM »
I'm looking for a different sweetener.  I've used Splenda packets for quite a while, drink diet sodas with Splenda, sweeten my tea with Spenda and on and on.  I've read where Splenda can actually have the opposite expected result for weight loss.  I've tried Stevia in the past but do not care for the bitter aftertaste.

What do y'all use for sweeteners?

I use Splenda. I've added a pic of the nutrition facts using dropshots. Hope this works.

I've been wanting to make a post about sweeteners.

My preferred sweeteners are the "Now" brand Stevia extract (powder) and Erythretol.  Both are natural sweeteners that have zero effect on blood sugar levels.

I will use Sweet & Low first, and then regular Splenda, both sparingly in a pinch if I have no other options.  Basically they are not great choices (they contain maltodextrin which can actually cause small spikes in blood sugar), so I just try to avoid them.

HOWEVER... Splenda also makes "Splenda Naturals"  an Erythretol/Stevia blend, and perfectly fine!

I've tried Pyure (an organic stevia BLEND - erythretol, stevia, natural flavor), and while there's nothing wrong with it, I just don't care for whatever the other "natural flavor" is.

I have seen where a combination of Stevia and Erythetol works well with no aftertaste.  I guess that synergy thing working.  I think I will give that a try when I run our of my Splenda packets.

Thanks for all the input.

I like it a lot       I find no after taste at all and I'm picky about taste and after taste :P

That was PURE STEVIA powder not the pack like I use now which is Stevia/Erythetol mix which to me is much better
