Desserts / Another try at sopaipillias
« Last post by TMB on August 17, 2020, 01:31:48 PM »
After the first try at something sweet with lavish bread I decided to try something else.
I have had these honey crystals in my stash for sometime and have looking to use them.

This gace it a honey taste without all the carbs!  You can find it at Wal Mart

The carb count is 3 carbs per teaspoon and believe it or not it only took 1 teaspoon to
flavor the sheet of bread along with one packet of Pyure sweetner

Baking times are the same 3 to 4 mins at 350 temp

Desserts / Low carb sopaipillias (sorta)

After I made the crackers I needed something sweet so I added cinnamon and Cliff's sugar replacement mix to some and baked.  Tasted really good sorta like mexican sopaipillias

Kimmie liked them so win win for me ;)

Mix is 3/4 cup Erythritol (I use NOW brand) and 1/4 teaspoon of Stevia (Better Stevia extract)
use just like sugar.  Good stuff

I was needing something to use for a cracker then thought LAVISH bread !!   Works great

Just cut into the size you want spritz with a tad of PAM spray add salt or whatever you want and back at 350 for 3 to 4 mins

General Discussion / Have you ever SMOKED hot dogs I mean low and slow for 1.5 hrs?

Have you ever smoked hot dogs?   I mean low and slow for 1.5 hrs or so?   Well, I did and wow they were great!

I was smoking a couple of pork loins for Kimmie and her friends for Mondays lunch so I thought I would toss on some hot dogs and Coneuh
sausage for lunch Sunday.

They were so good and no dry like you would think.  Pump and juicy

Smoked them on the Rec-Tec for 1.5 hrs at 235 with an A-Maze-N smoke tray with hickory/apple mix

Ate them up before I remembered to get anymore pictures

Beef / TentHunters Low Carb taco mix
« Last post by TMB on July 24, 2020, 06:31:24 PM »
Here is the basic Taco recipe Cliff (TentHunter) gave me and I have been using for years GREAT STUFF..

But wait there is MORE!!  LOL

Here is a newer version which is close but adds Cumin and backs the salt down a little bit.

This recipe has been in all my post for the last few years dealing with Taco's, Taco Salad's, low carb bake and Enchilada's

If you like tacos you got to try either one vs the store bought stuff

Taco Seasoning Mix from Cliff  good stuff!

Per lb of meat:

1 1/2 tsp Chili Powder  (0 net carb)
1 tsp Paprika  (0 net carb)
3/4 - 1 tsp  Salt
1/4   tsp Black Pepper, fine ground (0 net carb)
1/4   tsp Oregano  (0 net carb)
1/2 tsp Onion powder  (1g net carb)
1/4   tsp Garlic Powder (0.5g net carb)

The entire batch, as listed, contains only 1.5 net carbs, with a total glycemic load of less than 1 for the entire batch.

In other words it has no effective impact on blood sugar!

Taco seasoning #2

Taco Seasoning Mix from Cliff  good stuff!

Per lb of meat:

1 1/2 tsp Chili Powder  (0 net carb)
1/4 to 1/2 Cumin Powder   (to taste)
1 tsp Paprika  (0 net carb)
1/2 to 3/4  tsp  Salt
1/4   tsp Black Pepper, fine ground (0 net carb)
1/4   tsp Oregano  (0 net carb)
1/2 tsp Onion powder  (1g net carb)
1/4   tsp Garlic Powder (0.5g net carb)
